Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings
Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings are a result of a peer review system with a history that spans more than a century. A lawyer can be rated CV, BV or AV, an evaluation of two categories—legal ability and general ethical standards--in a process facilitated by Martindale-Hubbell. Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings attest to a lawyer's professional legal ability and ethics and are based on the confidential opinions of members of the Bar and the Judiciary.
An AV® certification mark is a significant rating accomplishment - a testament to the fact that lawyer's peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence. A lawyer must be admitted to the bar for 10 years or more to receive an AV rating.
